As a solo instrument artist, the direction creator Barry Murray wanted to take Skellig was a minimalist, nihilistic tide of distorted riffs, fuzzed out atmospherics and a haunting ambient isolationism.
This caustic secular expression of freedom through nihilism is a cacophonous release from reality. It's a purpose built construction of hermeticism within one's own thought patterns and processes.
We're all drowning in this swill together, this fuzzed out drone scape of dungeon sludge is the realisation that there will never be any helping hands to save us.
All our failures are concentric.
Every plaudit is a reversion.
Only your own failures are interminable.
Such a hovel our time here is, make of it what you will.
Skellig will take the stage on Saturday July 4th in Pharmacia, Limerick.
Monk Fest is in aid of Temple St. Children’s Hospital.
